SIMO announce the release of new studio album ‘Rise & Shine’ on 15 September 2017 on Provogue. On Rise & Shine SIMO widens their sound and is filled with slow-smoked soul ballads, psychedelic desert-rock instrumentals, hard-edged, bluesy barn burners and Stax-worthy funk rockers. Rise & Shine, SIMO’s new album, widens their sound, as the band stretched beyond preconceived notions and produced a nuanced record reflecting their views, talents and ultimately their growth. The album began taking shape on the road, where SIMO’s three bandmates — singer, guitarist and namesake frontman JD Simo; drummer Adam Abrashoff; and bassist Elad Shapiro — spent most of 2016 on tour. They played 215 shows that year, leaving behind their Nashville headquarters and traveling to nine different countries in support of their Billboard Top 10 blues album, Let Love Show the Way. The trio worked on new music along the way, hashing out chord changes in hotel rooms and tweaking song arrangements during soundcheck. It was a time of growth and self-improvement for everyone, and they became better friends, better musicians, and better people. At the same time, the outside world was changing. Josh Sharp does a set of jokes and stories all inside of one long D’Angelo song. It’ll be equal parts gross/heart-warming/gay, so I guess come or you’re a bigot? Featuring a few special guests and a live band of straight white men! Josh Sharp is a NYC-based comedian who you can see on Comedy Central’s "The Opposition with Jordan Klepper." He was named a Comedy Central "Comic to Watch" in 2016 and included on Vulture’s 2015 "Comics You Should Know" list. With Aaron Jackson, he did a year-long NYC run of his lewdy crudey queer musical, "Fucking Identical Twins," which is now in development as a feature at 20th Century Fox, bless their sweet hearts.
Big Oil also has it in for Tesla. The EV revolution threatens the dominance of Big Oil in the energy sector, and Tesla is leading the EV revolution.
"The singer and songwriter Shaina Taub belongs to a breed of performers who, apart from being artists, are gravitation forces around whom others cluster like filings to a magnet." – The New York Times Songwriter/performer Shaina Taub sets up camp this year at Joe’s Pub with a monthly concert residency. Each show will be a creative laboratory as she and her band debut new songs. You can also expect lots of selections from Old Hats and Visitors as well as special guests joining along the way.
“The concerns about changes being made under Richard Anderson’s regime at Amtrak are real,” says Charlie Leocha, president of nonprofit Travelers United. “The railroad experience is moving in the direction of airline service.” He’s echoed by Kevin Mitchell, a frequent Amtrak rider and chairman of the Business Travel Coalition: “I believe that Amtrak and its customers are not faring well under the guidance of former airline executives. After the radical consolidation of the U.S. airline industry, the current crop of executives … were schooled in increasing confusing fees and shrinking seats.”
Yeah, GM is really a mixed bag. On the one hand they’re arguably in the top 2 in terms of EV tech (and you can argue number 1 either way with Tesla). But on the other hand they’re not really pushing the tech at all. Just giving Europe and Canada what they want would easily double, if not triple current production.
So I guess you imagine a software upgrade is an energy-demanding thing?!? Goes to show how little clue you have about the matter. Even your phone can do that using a negligible percentage of its single Li-ion cell (of about 3 Ah, soooo à couple percent of 12 Wh, let’s say 0.5 Wh which is of course 0.0005 kWh to over-estimate the required energy a good deal!)

"We were able to fit two of these in a large suitcase with no problem at all. They were easy to carry to the beach on our bicycles and much more comfortable than sitting on the beach without back support. To the person who ‘invented’ this gem, kudos to you!!" wrote one verified buyer on April 28, 2017.
David’s Friend Written and performed by Nora Burns Featuring Billy Hough Directed by Adrienne Truscott David’s Friend is the story of a crazy friendship in 1980s New York City — a restless city during a reckless time. It’s a comic odyssey about cruising, disco, drag queens, strippers, sex, love, loss, and AIDS, told with music, videos, costumes, characters, tall tales and torrid truths. "A feisty and funny one-woman show" – Charles Isherwood, The New York Times "The beauty of "David’s Friend" is, you didn’t have to be there. Burns was, and she brings it alive for the rest of us." – Marc Miller, NY Theatre Guide "Nora is leading the charge out of our collective PTSD with love, humor and pelvic thrusts." – Ann Magnuson "A potent performance about the passing of a great era, beautifully captured, with wells of compassion and funniness." – Sandra Bernhard
The Jam: Only Child is a coming of age event where, after having sought out therapeutic counsel, Watts recognizes how being an only child and a latch-key kid in a single parent home influenced his interactions with the world into adulthood. Watts will be joined by DJ Duggz, aka Preston Dugger III (Motown the Musical, Memphis), spinning through the evening. A play-on-words, The Jam pays homage to Watts’ great-grandmother who, after making jam from scratch, would share with others what she was unable to consume herself. The Jam is Watts’s continuation of that legacy through riveting storytelling and captivating yet poignant spoken word often set to music and/or dance. "This Jam has a coming of age feel. It involves journeying through my past experiences that have shaped my perceptions and influenced my decision-making in order to really take stock of what I need to hold on to and what I can afford to let go." – Daniel J. Watts
